STATE OF U-TAC 2012

In Tonight’s State of U-TAC address I wish to start by looking at the brief U-TAC History… Born in 2007 as a mere interest it quickly became the owner of sought after markers… other field owners often renting in our exotic markers… Lockdown left the Fisher farm and we then opened Camp Cuba… unfortunately constant harassment from the Wallacedean residents and the owner going back on selling us the Cuba Property meant we started the Big Search as Paintball was in our Blood ….. from here the Redempt1on field was formed….

Not 1 week goes by without any additions to playing Arenas and the improvement of infrastructure …. Unfortunately a lot of criticism and negative comments have been directed at U-TAC, the latest being the Banning on the PBA Forum. We have considered closing the field
(on 21/12/2012) altogether or to own marker players. However so far all the negative we receive is recycled into positive energy and we Push Forward.

The Big Announcement is Thus not that we are closing (sorry X Y and Z) but in fact we are adding an additional 8000 sqm to the Bush Arena, this adding of space will be filled with Bunker traps Machine gun nests and will change the way Sweetwater is attacked… The new area will be in play from the D-Day 2012 event…. On the down side … we will not be playing in the Bush Arena from Monday 14/5/2012 till D-Day 2012 2 and 3/6/2012… with D-Day we will also be adding numerous bunkers and pillboxes to the D-Day defenses…..

A second Big Announcement is that we will create a ‘speedball’ practice Arena as a 4th Arena at Redempt1on, this will not take away any space from other Arenas but will Simply be built in Unused Space… The Bunkers will be of a wooden nature but with Solid panels and will be able to be reconfigured easily…
This arena will also be great to settle 1 on 1 scores or quick 5 on 5 missions…

A Third announcement is that in the last quarter of 2012 we will be getting a catering license having hotdogs toasted treats and fresh ground Coffee available..

The 4th announcement is that from October we will have 2 Battlefield Sunday events per Month and 1 Skirmish Sunday and then a Dedicated Scenario per Month … the Battlefield days can be Bush or CQB and will involve some advanced electronics and scoring … so the Game concepts will stay the same .. the position of objectives and the Playing Arena will change !!!

On a Social level we are re launching our loyalty cards … ie play 10 games get 11 free … as well as getting ‘Old’ balers back on the field even if they have sold their kit we will lend them kit…..

Financially speaking we ran at a loss in the previous financial year but we are optimistic for the current period… Field fees will Remain the same for 2012, as well as gas .

As you all know the Safe area and armoury etc will be moving to a new slightly bigger but more player friendly area this new area will be re launched on 1/4/2012

Finally we want to revive the SRU OpFor and get the whole rank structure up and running … this will be easily facilitated with the new Safe Area Layout, so dig out your books as your Opfor or SRU rank might mean discounts and some nice freebies….

SAD News !!!

The PBA – U-TAC issue everyone has been asking about…..
Just before everyone starts making up their own minds…

1) D-Day’s Dates are determined by when the first Sunday in June is.
2) In 2011 D-Day was roughly a month after the Tippman Challenge.
3) In 2011 U-TAC was allowed to advertise D-Day2011 on the PBA Forum, in an agreement where we had a PBA mention on Our website and a PBA banner at our field, furthermore Tippman Challenge Advertising was placed at the U-TAC field.
4) Advertising for D day 2011 Started in September 2010.
5) In 2010 we decided our safe area was too small and we needed to improve it, a build schedule was drawn up and the logical date for re-launch was 1/4/2012, we Liaised with area 51 as this was the Navy Swat date, they told us they were not going to host Navy Swat in 2012, so we set that as our re-launch !
6) PBA decided to move the Tippman challenge earlier to the same date, we don’t have an issue with it as we are no threat to the Tippman Challenge ( the Largest paintball event in SA)
7) For the last 2 years our field has been open on the same dates as the Tippman Challenge as we have had requests from players who prefer smaller events. (we are not the only field that is open on the same Day)
8) Paint Ball Africa in writing told us not to advertise D-Day 2012 untill 2 weeks prior to the Tippman Challenge, to give both events enough exposure.
9) We thought they were referring to the Forum, this was irritating but we accepted it, actually deciding to terminate further regular event advertising on the PBA Forum and Started advertising on Face Book and our website.
10) Unfortunately PBA were not referring to the Forum but to ALL advertising of D-DAY2012.
11) As a result of our ‘defiance’ TheGeneral and U-TAC have been banned from the PBA Forum, furthermore we have been accused of deliberately hosting a competitive event on the Tippman Challenge Date and not caring about the paintball community by defying the PBA instruction.
12) The Banning of U-TAC means we have no means of interacting about D- Day2012 on the Forum, which will no doubt have a negative effect on the success of D-Day 2012

Their have been a lot of questions and statements from players, regarding boycotting events etc… I am thus making an appeal to those of you who love paintball NOT to take part in or instigate any form of Boycotting events. We in South Africa are lucky that we still have a freedom of choice and a variety of events and facilities to use. Play where you want to play ! and Enjoy Playing !
